The shahadah is: “Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Allah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah” — “I bear witness that there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.”
Saying it with sincere belief makes you a Muslim. It is the foundation of everything that follows.
Purification (Wudu)
Before prayer, Muslims perform wudu — washing the hands, mouth, nose, face, arms, head, and feet. It prepares the body and the heart to stand before God.
The Five Daily Prayers
Muslims pray five times a day: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night). Each prayer is a short, beautiful conversation with God.
New Muslim Questions
What if I cannot read Arabic yet?
That is completely fine. Begin with short surahs and learn gradually. Sincerity matters most.
What if I miss a prayer?
Simply pray it as soon as you remember and continue. God is most forgiving.
The Month of Fasting
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset — abstaining from food and drink — to grow in self-discipline, gratitude, and closeness to God. It is a month of mercy and renewal.
